Your sense of wellbeing is at the core of my work. With every client I use a non-judgemental and supportive approach to facilitate a relationship where you feel safe and respected. I will work with you collaboratively to explore what is going on in your world with honesty and kindness. My style is client-led in nature, meaning I work at your pace and use cues from you to adapt my approach. My goal is to form a relationship of understanding and genuineness, so you feel safe enough to make the most of your therapy and develop helpful coping strategies.
I work towards your preferred style and tailor therapy sessions specifically for you. Some clients simply need a space to be heard without any direction required by the counsellor. Whilst others prefer a more structured approach, using goal-setting and homework to learn new skills.
I generally use an integrative approach, as I believe there is not a ‘one size fits all’ method to psychotherapy. I tend to use different styles of therapy at different times, including CBT, CFT, EMDR, Person-Centred, Mindfulness and TA, to suit the client and what they are presenting at that moment.
I also offer 8-week courses in both EMDR and CBT/CFT. These options allow the therapy to be focused and time-limited, which may suit clients preferring a more defined approach or those with a specific budget or time constraints. This is more of a treatment-based approach and solutions-focussed. We agree to the sessions in advance and payment is required upfront at a reduced rate. During our first session, we assess your therapeutic needs and design the treatment plan accordingly. You can choose to book a block of four or eight sessions.
Therapy does not have to be a daunting experience; but instead, it can be a really insightful way to explore who we are and what we want in life.
Is Safe Space Counselling right for me?
My therapy is about you being you - and me being me. We all have imperfections, insecurities, quirks and vulnerabilities. Safe Space Counselling welcomes and invites everyone. We all have a desire to feel in control of our lives and be connected to what matters to us most. Counselling with me can create that opportunity for you. Research has consistently proven the single most powerful factor in effective therapy is the relationship between client and therapist - and this is my primary focus.
